The first 50p coins were minted in 1971 as part of the new coins issued from decimal day. In 1997, the new 50p design was released; smaller than the previous.

25p Crown Coins
Crowns are not in circulation anymore and these coins were primarily issued to commemorate national events or important people. Predecimalisation, these coins were worth 5 shillings which as of 1971 became 25p. Retailers and banks aren’t obligated to accept crowns but some Post Offices do accept them! Crowns issued after 1990 are worth £5 but these aren’t issued into circulation.
